CUSMA (formerly known as NAFTA) facilitates temporary work permits for citizens of the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The agreement includes categories for professionals, intra-company transferees, and traders/investors.
The professional category is most commonly used. It covers dozens of professional occupations including engineers, accountants, scientists, and many others listed in the agreement.
CUSMA work permits are LMIA-exempt and can often be obtained at the port of entry, making them among the fastest work permits to obtain.
