The Co-op Work Permit allows international students to complete work placements that are a mandatory part of their academic program. It is issued in addition to the study permit.
Co-op permits are essential when the work placement exceeds what is allowed on a study permit alone. The work must be an integral part of the program of study.
This permit is specifically for work that is part of your curriculum. It is different from the 20-hour/week off-campus work allowed on study permits.
