Express Entry French language draws are the single biggest CRS advantage in the Canadian immigration system. The most recent French draw on April 29, 2026 (Round #414) issued 4,000 Invitations to Apply at CRS 400, while the general Canadian Experience Class draw the day before settled at CRS 514. That is a 114-point gap, equivalent to a complete language overhaul or 5 extra years of work experience.
If you have strong French language skills (NCLC 7+), you receive up to 50 additional CRS points on top of the lower cutoff. Combined, French proficiency is the highest-leverage Express Entry path for any non-francophone applicant who can realistically reach intermediate French.
The French language draws happen roughly twice a month in 2026 and target candidates with strong French ability regardless of occupation. This is separate from the FSW French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream offered by Ontario and other provinces. Outside Quebec, NCLC 7+ qualifies you; Quebec runs its own immigration system with separate French requirements.
