The Self-Employed Persons Program is a unique pathway to Canadian permanent residence for individuals with relevant experience in cultural activities, athletics, or farm management. Unlike other business immigration programs, this pathway allows you to immigrate based on your talent and intention to be self-employed in Canada.
This program is ideal for professional athletes, coaches, artists, musicians, performers, writers, and other cultural workers who have achieved recognition at the world-class level and intend to contribute to Canada's cultural or athletic life.
**Note:** This program is currently paused. However, you may consider the PNP Entrepreneur streams as an alternative pathway for business immigration.
This program is currently paused for new applications since April 30, 2024. IRCC is expected to reopen applications in early 2027. Existing applications submitted before the pause are still being processed.
